Understanding the Materials in LUMERUNE Jewelry

LUMERUNE pieces are made with natural crystals, pearls, metals, and other jewelry components. We choose these materials not because every stone or pearl looks exactly the same, but because they don’t.

An amethyst can have a deep violet center and a paler edge. Citrine can move from soft yellow to a warmer honey tone. Pearls can be round, slightly oval, or distinctly irregular. These differences are normal, and they are part of what you’ll see when wearing jewelry made with natural materials.

For the exact materials in a piece you’re considering, always check the Materials section on its product page.

What to expect from natural crystals

Many LUMERUNE designs feature stones such as amethyst, citrine, quartz, obsidian, onyx, moonstone, and labradorite.

Look closely at a natural crystal and you may notice things happening beneath the surface: fine inclusions, cloudy areas, transparent sections, color bands, tiny mineral traces, or changes in tone from one side of the bead to the other.

For example, one amethyst bead might be almost transparent with a pale lavender color, while the bead next to it is darker and more saturated. Labradorite is known for flashes of color that become more visible as the stone moves through the light.

These aren’t details we expect every stone to hide. They’re part of working with natural material.

It also means two bracelets made from the same design will not be identical.

A note about our pearls

Pearls bring a different kind of texture to our jewelry.

Some LUMERUNE designs use freshwater pearls, including irregular and baroque shapes. Rather than having the perfectly uniform surface of a manufactured bead, an individual pearl can have small ridges, variations in shape, subtle surface marks, and differences in luster.

We especially like pairing pearls with faceted crystals. The soft reflection of a pearl looks very different beside the sharper way a cut crystal catches light.

Pearls are also relatively delicate. Put your jewelry on after perfume, hairspray, lotion, and cosmetics have dried, and avoid wearing pearl pieces in the shower, pool, or while exercising.

Metals, clasps and other components

A finished piece contains more than stones and pearls. Depending on the design, it may also include chains, clasps, spacers, beads, wire, settings, charms, or other findings.

The metal and finish are not necessarily the same across every LUMERUNE design, so we don’t use one blanket material description for the entire collection.

Instead, check the individual product page for the materials stated for that specific piece.

If you have a known sensitivity to a particular metal, please review those details before ordering. If something isn’t clear, email contact@lumerune.com with the product link and tell us which material you would like us to confirm.

Why your piece can look a little different from the photos

We photograph our jewelry to show its color, texture, and details as accurately as possible. Even so, what you see on your screen isn’t a perfect prediction of the piece you’ll receive.

Part of that comes from the screen itself. Brightness, display settings, and the light around you can change the way a color appears.

The other part comes from the jewelry.

Natural amethyst doesn’t have one exact shade of purple. Pearls don’t all reflect light in exactly the same way. Inclusions and patterns inside crystals also change from stone to stone.

So when you receive your piece, take a moment to look at it in natural light. You may notice a marking, change in color, or small detail that wasn’t present in the photographed piece.

That difference is part of your jewelry.
