THE JUNE GUIDE
Three birthstones, with different kinds of light and care.
Choose a June gift by the way it will be worn
Start with familiar shapes, lengths and everyday habits.
Pearl, moonstone and alexandrite all belong to June. Begin with a piece the recipient already wears: a short strand, a small pendant or a more noticeable shape. Luster, a moving sheen and a change of color offer different visual choices.
Our current June edit features pearl and moonstone designs. Compare the listed dimensions, metal and fastening, and check whether a pendant includes a chain. The size guide helps with fit; a necklace still needs the right length.
Pearl vs moonstone
Compare the two stones in our current June edit.
Choose the appearance you enjoy and the care routine you can keep. A higher scratch-resistance number does not make a stone safe from knocks.
| Detail | Pearl | Moonstone |
|---|---|---|
| Appearance | Luster across round, irregular or baroque shapes. | A sheen called adularescence that shifts with viewing angle. |
| Wear | Soft and vulnerable to scratches; handle and store gently. | Harder than pearl, but poor toughness makes hard knocks a concern. |
| Care | Wipe with a soft, damp cloth after wear; protect from cosmetics and abrasion. | Use gentle cleaning suitable for the whole piece; avoid steam and ultrasound. |
| Check | Natural or cultured identity, any known treatments, dimensions and stringing. | Material identity, dimensions, setting and how the sheen looks as the angle changes. |

Where alexandrite fits
A third June option, with a different buying checklist.
Alexandrite changes color between light sources. Its hardness and toughness generally make it the strongest durability candidate of these three for a frequently worn ring, but the setting and daily activities still matter. We do not currently offer an alexandrite piece in this edit.
A dramatic color-change video cannot prove natural origin. Ask whether the stone is natural, laboratory-grown or another color-change material, and match any independent report to the actual stone. Our June birthstone overview introduces all three.
Keep the complete piece in mind
The most delicate component sets the care routine.
Pearls, moonstone, metal finishes and stringing have different needs. Apply cosmetics before putting on pearls, keep pieces from rubbing together, and take jewelry off for rough work. Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners for pearl and moonstone.
Follow the product instructions and our jewelry care guide. If a stone moves, a fastening is damaged or the construction is unclear, ask before cleaning.
June birthstone questions
What are the three June birthstones?
Pearl, moonstone and alexandrite. The current LUMERUNE selection shown above focuses on pearl and moonstone; the month’s full list does not mean all three are in stock.
Are cultured pearls suitable for a June birthday?
Yes. Cultured pearls are genuine pearls. “Natural” and “cultured” describe different formation circumstances, so read the product’s full material description.
Is moonstone a low-maintenance everyday ring stone?
Moonstone can be damaged by knocks. For someone who works with their hands, a pendant may be easier to wear with care than a ring. Consider the setting and the wearer’s routine.
Does color change prove natural alexandrite?
No. Laboratory-grown alexandrite and other color-change materials can show convincing effects. Identity and origin need evidence beyond a photograph or video.
